About the ACWA Scholarship

It is the mission of the American Chuck Wagon Association Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to those showing interest and promise in continuing their education in a collegiate or trade program. ACWA scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. Half the awarded amount of will be applied the first semester and the other half the second contingent upon satisfactory progress. Funds are sent directly to the educational institution for each semester or quarter. The ACWA is proud to be able to offer assistance to deserving young people dedicated to furthering their education. The first college scholarship was awarded for the 2008/2009 school year. 2016-2017 ACWA Scholarship Recipients

Caleb Swanson-ACWA Scholarship Recipient

Caleb Swanson from Canton, SD, where he was home schooled. He will be attending Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD, in Aviation Mechanics and to continue his Pilot License Ratings. He currently has his Private Pilot License. Caleb participates in Fort Sisseton Historical reenactments, 4H shooting sports and Horse Showmanship events, working Arabian Horse Shows. He is a skilled Dutch Oven Cook, competing in local cooking contests and winning the 2013 Cheyenne Frontier Days Youth event. He has volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Veteran Day Programs, 4H and several other agencies and associations.

Chelsea Carter-ACWA Scholarship Recipient

Chelsea Carter is from Prairie Hill, TX, and is a 2016 graduate of Groesbeck High School. Besides being very active in school, she played varsity softball, varsity golf, was in FFA and 4H. She also helped with food drives, volunteered at local nursing homes and participated in community trash pick ups. Chelsea participated in "Cowboys for Heroes" at Fort Sam Houston. This event honors veterans and their families and is near and dear to her heart as her father is himself a veteran. Chelsea will be attending Blinn College in Bryan to pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
